My Lullaby

Standard

Clinging with an uncontrollable strength
Shackled by time and nothing else
She lies in the sunrise
I watch her move her mouth
Ever so slightly while she’s sleeping
One last time

I’m tired, too tired to fight anymore
There’s no sorrow in your eyes anymore
There’s only a faint glimpse of who you used to be
It’s always been the saddest truths that get the best of me

Crying in an uncontrollable state
Shackled by loss and nothing else
Lying in the darkness
I speak to you aloud
Ever so lightly, before I go to sleep
You’ll always be my lullaby
